Joining the churches of St. Martin as they care for their people

As many of you know, Greg Thompson is not only the beloved music teacher at St. Anne’s Day School, but also the music genius behind our “Sunday on Thursday” program. Mr. Thompson was born on St. Martin, an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea, approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico. At the end of 2017, St Martin was hit hard by hurricane Irma, which caused widespread and significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. As Mr. Thompson shared with me the herculean work that Churches of all denominations were doing to care for the people of the island, I felt called to use a portion of the Rector’s Discretionary Fund to support their holy mission. I reached out to the Senior Pastor of the Methodist Church in which Mr. Thompson grew up and sent her a check over the Christmas Holidays on behalf of all of us.

Below is a copy of the letter of thanks I received from them today and a picture of Mr. Thompson hand-delivering our Christmas gift to the Rev. Dr. Joan Delsol Meade.
