Saint Anne’s and Urban Recipe are ready to launch a food co-op to provide food security to our neighbors in need of extra support. The Mission and Outreach Committee has committed funds from the Marino’s gift and some of our annual stewardship funds to support this new effort.
Our initial plan was to host the co-op in our own Parish Hall, but with COVID-19 precautions in place, our co-op will start at the Urban Recipe site on the Westside. We have invited Agape families and other members of the community to attend a virtual information session on February 18 to learn more about the co-op and to sign up to participate starting in March.
Our goal is to start with around 15 families, growing over time to serve up to 50 families. If you work with an organization or know anyone who could use the extra support, they are welcome to attend the information session. Click the button for a flyer with details. Our co-op is open to anyone in need of food and participants will pick up boxes of food biweekly starting in early March.
If you are interested in volunteering to help sort food at Urban Recipe, please check out their site for volunteer opportunities. All volunteers are required to wear masks and social distance. This is a great outreach opportunity for youth, families, and anyone that wants to help for a couple of hours. www.urbanrecipe.org
