Advent Book Study and Discussion: The First Christmas

Have you ever wondered what the Christmas stories are actually telling us? Have you ever thought about why there are only two accounts of the beginning of Jesus’ life in Matthew and Luke’s Gospels? As we begin the season of Advent, we will read about what the origins of Jesus’s birth narratives tell us about Christmas in the book “The First Christmas” by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan. We will meet in the library on Sunday mornings to explore, debate, and wrestle with the nature of the infancy narratives in the Gospels. This Sunday, we’ll look at Chapter 1.
