One Online and One in Person (with FOOD)
In the coming weeks the church will remember two events, both major feasts in the calendar of the church.
The first occurs on the fortieth day after the resurrection, the Ascension of Jesus. This year we will record a service of Evening Prayer and post it to Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SaintAnnesATL) on Thursday, May 13 at 6:00 pm. The Rev. Tim Meyers will offer a reflection on Jesus’ return to heaven. A return which precipitates the coming of the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort the church until his return to us. Consider gathering as a family or individually and listening to the liturgy as your blessing before your evening meal.
On the fiftieth day after Easter, May 23, we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit on the feast of Pentecost. This week we received new guidelines from the diocese that allow gatherings with food outside. Saint Anne’s will host a Pentecost Picnic following the 10:30 service. Catered boxed lunches and beverages will be provided as we gather in the courtyard in front of the parish hall and other areas around the church.
After more than a year of separation this will be our first time to gather with food for fellowship and fun. I hope it will the first of many gatherings. In honor of Pentecost wear red as a symbol of the Holy Spirit. It is an exciting step forward as we navigate our way through the pandemic.
