funerals

At Saint Anne’s, we understand that death is a complicated and grief-filled time for individuals and families. Our clergy, staff and congregation are available to support you through this experience of grief and to help you celebrate the life of your loved one.

If the time has come to start planning a funeral, please call the church to set up a meeting with one of our clergy members. If you are experiencing a pastoral emergency, even if it is after hours, please call the church so you may reach our pastoral care line.

celebration of life

The liturgy for the dead is an Easter liturgy. It finds its meaning in the Resurrection. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we too, shall be raised to new life with him.

The liturgy, therefore, is characterized by joy, in the sure and certain hope that "neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

Our joy, however, does not make human grief unchristian. The very love we have for each other in Christ brings deep sorrow when we are parted by death; Jesus wept at the grave of his friend Lazarus. So, while we rejoice that one we love has entered into the presence of our Lord, we sorrow in sympathy with those who mourn.

We strongly encourage members of the parish to make their funeral arrangements in advance. While it is difficult to think about, this is a wonderful gift to leave for your family. Our clergy at Saint Anne’s will be honored to walk through this process with you when you are ready to do so.

MEMORIAL GARDEN

We have a lovely memorial garden at Saint Anne’s with plots available for those who wish to be buried here. This is a wonderful, quiet and holy place where friends and families can visit loved ones for years to come.
